When Do I Send Save The Dates?

When Do I Send Save The Dates?

I get this question a lot so I decided it was time to blog about this subject! I think this all depends on your wedding type and wedding date!

If you are hosting a local wedding, aka majority of your guests can drive there and back, then you should send out your save the dates about 4-5 months before the wedding.

If you are hosting a destination wedding– as in your guests need to fly in or make a LONG drive and stay the night, then you need to send out save the dates about 6-8 months before the wedding.

If you are booking your vendors closer to the save the date timeline, it’s OKAY! Don’t rush it! These are just estimated times. If you are worried about people not receiving save the dates, then communicate with them. Talk with your loved ones and let them know its probably going to be around “January” of this year. Your vendors are usually scheduling events and sessions about 2-3 months in advance so their calendars may be filled with clients who book with them 3 months before you did.

You don’t have to use your images on your save the dates! (even though I love seeing them!)  You can send pretty save the dates that only use calligraphy. You can also add this to your styled invite suite!

Don’t feel like you need to hurry up and send these asap! Communicate with your vendors /guests and know that it’s going to all work out for the best!
